About Me
My name is Jean and I live with my husband Tony and three of our six children at home along with our pets and animals on our lifestyle block in North Canterbury, New Zealand.
I've attended and photographed many friends weddings, children, pregnancies, and even child birth. I was often told I had a knack for snapping those special moments.
I gained a Diploma in Photography with The Photography Instititute in Feb 2013 and I have been an avid hobby photographer for over 20 years. During this time I have attended photography courses, enjoyed dark room printing as well as worked in a photo lab. I'm passionate about photography and the fact you can freeze a moment in time that creates those special memories.
I am still studying various aspects of photography to help bring more creativity and quality to you. There's far more to taking a photo than meets the eye and having a good camera that can take great photos. You can have a great camera but do need to be able to operate it. My current studying is around editing processes. Having come from a film background (yes I'm that old), it's a whole new world. An exciting one, intriguing, and sometimes a tad daunting on occasions.
About 10 years ago I also did some Reiki courses which now and then I will incorporate into my photography. Most times you will be unaware I am giving some Reiki but it helps to calm unsettled babies and was even able to use it while a friend was in labour.
My wonderful husband provides great support when I'm photographing, editing and doing "photo stuff" as he puts it. He's a wonderful cook, great with our kids and will often bring me a cup of tea while I'm in front of the computer screen working.
Having recently moved to Okuku, North Canterbury I've been given a whole host of new photographic opportunities from using our fields for portrait sessions to photographing the nearby scenery of our area. You can check these out in the gallery area. How beautiful is our country!
